Thomas Serensits, M.S.

Prior to running the day to day operations of the lab, Tom was the Manager of Penn State's Center for Sports Surface Research. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Turfgrass Science from Penn State in 2001, Tom began a three-year stint working as the Assistant Sportsfield Manager for the Philadelphia Eagles.  He then moved on to a position as a research technician focusing on weed control at Virginia Tech's Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center.  


In 2006, Tom came back to Penn State to begin his post-graduate education and earned a Master's Degree in 2008.  Tom is also the coordinator of the NFL independent gameday playing surface testing program.  For more information about Tom, click here.

Andrew McNitt, Ph.D.
Dr. Andy McNitt started A. McNitt Co. in 1997.  The soil physical properties lab specializes in turfgrass rootzone design and testing for golf courses, athletic fields, and landscape projects and has been the lab of choice for many notable projects including PGA Tour golf courses, Major and Minor League ballparks, and NFL practice and game facilities.  A. McNitt Co. has always strived to provide accurate, reasonably priced soil testing along with prompt customer service to aid in your decision making process.  These ideals continue as A. McNitt Co. has evolved into A. McNitt & SerenSoil Testing, LLC, beginning in 2014.  

Dr. McNitt is a retired Professor of Soil Science-Turfgrass at Penn State University where he worked for over 30 years researching the construction and maintenance of golf and athletic turf.  For more information about Andy, click here.
